Autodesk Inventor: 3D print in the STL format is 10x smaller than the 3D model.

You create your model with Autodesk Inventor and you want to 3D print it. When you open it in your favorite 3D printing software (mine is Cura), your model appears 10x smaller…

My model 10x smaller in Cura than the 3D model

In Inventor menu, you choose « Save as » > « Save copy as ». You select the STL file format.

Here is an option to check before to save: units.

If you use millimeters as Inventor units (the default for metric), you should also use millimeters to export your STL model.

By default, Inventor saves STL file with centimeters as units. Just click on « Options » button at bottom of dialog box to set the export to millimeters.

And finally, the model is the same size in Cura and Inventor. Sweet! :)
